.[b]

1 Praise the LORD
    I will extol the LORD with all my heart
    in the council of the upright and in the assembly.
2 Great are the works of the LORD;
    they are pondered by all who delight in them.
3 Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
    and his righteousness endures for ever.
4 He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
    the LORD is gracious and compassionate.
5 He provides food for those who fear him;
    he remembers his covenant for ever.

6 He has shown his people the power of his works,
    giving them the lands of other nations.
7 The works of his hands are faithful and just;
    all his precepts are trustworthy.
8 They are established for ever and ever,
    done in faithfulness and uprightness.
9 He provided redemption for his people;
    he ordained his covenant for ever –
    holy and awesome is his name.

10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;
    all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
    To him belongs eternal praise.

Psalm 111: Is an acrostic psalm, a poem that uses two clauses for each verse, except for the last verse which has three, for a total of 22 clauses, each beginning with a consecutive letter of the Hebrew alphabet (with its 22 letters). Though such acrostic poems are rarely subject to logical outlining, this one is a psalm of praise and contains the characteristic call to praise (verse 1), cause for praise (verses 2-9), and a concluding exhortation to praise (verse 10).
Verses 1-10: Psalms 111 and 112 are alike in that:
   (1) They both begin with, “Praise ye the LORD!” (as does Psalm 113), and
   (2) They both are acrostics with 22 lines corresponding to the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet.

Psalm 111 exalts the works of God in three parts, while Psalm 112 extols the man who fears God. The author(s), and occasion(s), are unknown.
   I. A Word of Praise (1).
   II. Words about God’s Works (2-9).
   III. A Word of Wisdom (1:10).
Christians, who have grown up with the Lord, maybe able to obeys the will of God and are not ashamed to praise Him for His wonderful works.
I wonder how many of us have grown beyond the milk and honey stage, are we ready for the meat of the Word?
God wants His children to be faithful and to read and listen to the words of scriptures, and not let them be a thing that sits on a shelf or table and gathers dust.
I was part of a group and we were studying the bible from Genesis to Revelation, one lady felt it hard to read and understand the Old Testament. She was going to miss out the Old Testament readings until I explained to her how God was working there as God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit. I pointed out to her, that Jesus was there as one of the three visitors to Abraham. She changed her mind and stayed all through the studies. She was happy when I pointed out how Jesus is a shepherd that looks after His sheep when they are sick.
