Psalm 120-134 are known as Psalms of Ascent or in Hebrews A song of ascent. They were sung by pilgrims going to the Temple in Jerusalem for religious festival.
I wonder, in the hustle and bustle of our lives, have we forgot, where we are going on a Sunday morning. Has our minds been directed on feeding the family, and getting things ready, that we have forgotten, that we are going for a time when in God’s presence. A time to worship God with songs and prayers. Do we thank God? for saving us through the trails if our lives during the week.
When my children were young, I use to take them to church services, one would say to me I wonder if we will sing this or that hymn, and they would start sing along from a hymn before we reached church. The other two would say no, let’s sing and they would start off singing another hymn.
Have we lost that joy of singing God’s praise? Have we stopped singing hymns at home or on the way to worship in a morning? We should not let our hearts be pulled down by the world around us but believe and love our God with all our hearts, and let him know by singing hymns and songs to praise God. If you cannot go to church sing a hymn at home, God can hear you there as well as at church.
