1 Why do you boast of evil, you mighty man?
Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?
2 Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor. It is like a sharpen razor, you who practice deceit.
3 You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth.
4 You love every harmful word, O you deceitful tongue!
5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living.

6 The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at you, saying,
7 “Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!”
8 But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.
9 I will always praise you for ever for what you have done; in your name I will hope, for your name is good.
I will praise you in the presence of your saints.

Psalm 52: This is a psalm of trust and thanksgiving.
There is confusion with this psalm of placing it with the correct author, and what it is meant for. Some have thought it could be at the time of David, and at Doeg’s betrayal (1 Samuel 22) but the verses place it later.
Perhaps it is a reminder for us, to take time, and to consider what is in our prayers to God.
Have we put ourselves right with what God wants us to be?
Verses 1-4 explain the evil tormenter. - Have we people around us that try and put us down or want us to stop praying to God?
5 God’s retaliation – God can uproot us and set us down in a strange land.
8-9 Our trust in God – We carry out the work God has given us.
The Psalm is telling us to wait for God,
• let the Holy Spirit ponder over our problems,
• allow the right words to come out as we speak to God.
When we die, a time of judgement will come to everybody
As helpers of God are we in a right mind?
Are our thoughts and deeds pleasing to God?
Are we at peace with what we have done in our lives?
If we are, then when our time comes we can go and meet God with a peaceful mind.
