For the director of music. With stringed instruments. Psalm of David.

1 Hear my cry, O God;
    listen to my prayer.
2 From the ends of the earth I call to you,
    I call as my heart grows faint;
    lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3 For you have been my refuge,
    a strong tower against the foe.
4 I long to dwell in your tent forever
    and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.[b]
5 For you, , have heard my vows O God;

you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.
6 Increase the days of the king’s life,
    his years for many generations.
7 May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever;
    appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him.
8 Then I will ever sing praise to your name
    and fulfil my vows day after day.

Psalm 61:- David asking God to help him. God had shown David that he would be king. David now is going through troubles and wars. His life is threatened, and David cries out for God to help him, to give him a long life.
Perhaps in our lives, we have found that life has not gone along as we thought it should be, and we cry out to God, ‘what has happened?’ ‘Why is this happening?’
Our lives might not be meant to live the life of a king, but in our work for God, we will come across enormous problems. It is then we feel our life, our job, or home is at risk and we turn to God and ask, ’is this the way it is supposed to be?’ Where have I gone wrong? what can I do?’ and we pray.
We might not find an answer but, by sharing our problem with God, it makes our life easier. God does not want us to bear all the load on our own shoulders, God is there and bearing it with us.
Imagine if you had to climb a cliff face or dive for something at the bottom of the sea? You cannot do it on your own, it is too dangerous. In the same way struggling with a problem on your own is sometimes too much for one to cope with, so ask God. He might direct you to a friend who handles things like your problem, or like me He gave me an easier way to do things.
