Psalm 63[

A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.

1 O, God, are my God,
    earnestly I seek you;
    my soul thirst for you,
    my body longs for you,

    where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in the sanctuary
    and beheld your power and your glory.
3 Because your love is better than life,
    my lips will glorify you.
4 I will praise you as long as I live,
    and in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;
    with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

6 On my bed I remember you;
    I think of you through the watches of the night.
   p> I sing in the shadow of your wings.
8 I cling to you;
    your right hand upholds me.
9 They who seek my life will be destroyed;
    they will go down to the depths of the earth.
10 They will be given over to the sword
    and become food for jackals.
11 But the king will rejoice in God;
    all who swear by God name will praise him.
    while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

Psalm 63 – Read 2 Samuel15:13-37
It is hard to imagine what King David was going through at this time, especially when it was his son who had caused the upset. David holds on to his faith in God; and knows that God wants him to be king.

I wonder if at any time in our lives, have we come across someone who did not like us. Someone who wanted us out of the way. Perhaps we were showing where they had gone wrong, and they turned on us.

I remember when I was told by HR personnel that I had to escort my boss out of the building. I knew my boss had nothing wrong, I behaved in the normal friendly manner and gave her the curtesy that was always between us, as I escorted her to the door. At the door we hugged each other, and she said, ‘watch your back’. I remember that, and I prayed, to God, ‘what was happening to my life?’ please be with me and keep me safe’. That boss has remained my friend for the last 20 years, the one who tried to get rid of me, lost her job shortly after our office closed.

You have to trust God to see you through bad times in your life, like I did, when it seemed the whole world had gone mad.
